Best SessionWatcher alternatives (2026)
SessionWatcher’s entry plan covers one core coding tool. If you need several providers, compare the plan you would buy with a free tracker before deciding that the headline price is cheap or expensive.
Disclosure: We make AI Usage Tracker. We recommend competitors when their documented features better fit the job.

Separate licensing from measurement
SessionWatcher’s pricing page separates Solo, Bundle, Pro and Teams. Decide which providers, accounts and devices need coverage before comparing totals. Its annual and lifetime options are different commitments.
A tool that costs less but omits your working platform is not a useful saving. A tool with more reporting may still not be the right tool for official billing. Choose the signal and the platform before the price.
CodexBar
- Best for
- Free monitoring on Mac with a wide provider catalog
- Price
- Free, open source
- Runs on
- macOS 14+; Linux desktop and CLI builds
The CodexBar repository documents the installation paths and platform support. For an individual Mac user, evaluate it before paying for subscription quota tracking.
If it covers every account and provider you need, the trade-off is mostly display preference and the support model you want. You do not need a paid tracker to make an official usage reading official.
Trade-off: The primary product is not SessionWatcher’s Windows taskbar experience. Community Windows ports are separate projects.
AI Usage TrackerOur app
- Best for
- Mac limits and agent states in an edge notch
- Price
- $9.99 once
- Runs on
- macOS 15+, Apple silicon and Intel
Our app sells one Mac installer for $9.99 once. Connected provider limits and supported agent states share the same small display. You can position it on any screen edge.
This fits a person who wants a status glance while working and has little use for a larger history dashboard. Local Ollama and LM Studio metrics are a further reason to consider it.
Trade-off: It is not a released Windows or remote phone product, and it is not a company-wide spend report.
UsageScope
- Best for
- History dashboards with store distribution
- Runs on
- macOS 13.5+; Windows, iPhone and Android versions
UsageScope’s Mac listing describes period dashboards, optional ranking and a Pro purchase. Its site also offers Windows and mobile versions.
Consider it when store distribution and historical usage matter. Check the entitlement on each platform rather than assuming the Mac purchase unlocks every mobile feature.
Trade-off: Trial wording varies across its listing and release notes. Use the terms displayed inside the current app; optional mobile sharing changes where data is stored.
Syrtis (formerly TokenBar)
- Best for
- Free local history on supported Mac and Windows machines
- Price
- Free, open source
- Runs on
- macOS 14+ on Apple silicon; Windows x64 and ARM64
Syrtis, previously TokenBar, has Mac and Windows builds and a local-log history focus. It is useful when the important question is which model or day generated the token workload.
Use that history to identify repeated work or an unexpectedly expensive model choice. Reconcile monetary conclusions with the provider rather than treating a local estimate as a bill.
Trade-off: Its Mac build requires Apple silicon. Its token history is bounded by the logs on the computer; it does not sync through a cloud account.
Our recommendation
Stay with SessionWatcher if the trial proves its Windows display, support or Pro features worth paying for. For a Mac quota glance, try CodexBar. For the notch workflow, consider our app. For historical analysis, compare UsageScope and Syrtis.
A practical way to choose
- Map your current SessionWatcher plan to the features you actually use.
- Confirm those features on the replacement’s operating system.
- Keep the provider’s billing portal as the record of charges.
Questions
Can I keep my history when switching?
Do not assume compatible imports. The tools use different stores and local sources. Preserve any export you need before uninstalling.
Is team licensing a team dashboard?
SessionWatcher says it is not. For organization-wide spend, evaluate the provider’s admin reporting independently.
