How we chose

We selected CodexBar, SessionWatcher, Usagebar, AIUsageBar, UsageScope as the five closest comparison subjects for personal AI coding-usage monitoring. They overlap with the account-limit, desktop-display or multi-provider decisions our Mac app serves. This is a relevance shortlist, not a market-share or popularity ranking.

We also examined Notchy, LimitWatch, Tally, Syrtis (previously TokenBar), ccusage and native provider or runtime tools. They appear where an audience needs general notch utilities, mobile widgets, account management, local reports or model controls.

Recommendations use official product pages, repositories, documentation and store listings checked on 8 October 2026. We inspected our own implementation and release information. We did not install or benchmark competing apps, measure their memory use, or test every integration. Each article links its sources and calls out material price, platform and feature limitations.

Our app is the commercially delivered Mac installer at aiusagetracker.dev. A repository Windows port or phone-link protocol is not treated as a released Windows installer or remote mobile companion. Price and data-source claims follow that scope.
